Creating a unique cocktail with fresh ingredients is always fun, but when you have the opportunity to use a Southern made liquor it makes it even more fun. Troy and Sons by Asheville Distilling company is a great spirit made with ancient grains from the The McEntire family who have been cultivating the rare Turkey Red Wheat and White Corn for over two-hundred years. Troy and Sons founder is a passionate woman named Troy Ball and her beautiful spirit can be seen in every bottle. Using Troy and Sons Platinum, I created for a recent mixology class this Cranberry-Rosemary Shine:
Cranberry-Rosemary Shine, makes 2 drinks
- 3 oz Troy and Sons Platinum infused with rosemary
- 1.5 oz cranberry syrup (make this just like simple syrup boil 1 cup cranberries along with 2 cups sugar and 2 cups water – this will make enough syrup to last you for awhile)
- 1/2 lemon squeezed and zested
- 2 rosemary sprigs
- Sparkling water
- Lemon slice (optional)
In large cocktail shaker over ice combine moonshine, cranberry syrup, lemon juice, and zest. Shake vigorously. Take the rosemary sprig and rub it along the sides of each glass. Fill each glass with ice cubes. Strain cocktail shaker over each glass about 2/3 full. Add a splash of sparkling water to fill each glass. Garnish with rosemary sprig and lemon slice if desired.
